Angaza Center is dedicated to bridging the digital divide and empowering students in rural African secondary schools with essential Information & Communication Technology literacy (Digital Literacy). We believe that every student, regardless of their social or economic circumstances, deserves access to today’s transformative power of technology.
Computer device donation process is a crucial aspect of Angaza Center’s program. These devices can be laptops (MacBooks, Windows and Chromebooks), tablets, portable desktops like iMacs, and smart phones. We accept both new and used devices.
Here’s a highlight of our computer device donation process:
Donation Outreach: Angaza Center actively reaches out to various organizations, including school districts, colleges, universities, corporations, and individuals, to solicit computer device donations. We engage with these potential donors through outreach campaigns, partnerships, and networking to raise awareness about our mission and the impact their donations can make.
Device Collection: Once donors express their interest in contributing, Angaza Center coordinates the collection and pick-up of computer devices.
Device Preparation: Once collected, our skilled volunteer technicians will inspect, and clean the devices, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. Any sensitive data will need to be securely erased to protect privacy. Additionally, necessary software installations, updates, and configurations are performed to prepare the devices for use in Member Schools.
Device Shipment: Once the devices are prepared, they are packaged securely for shipping to Member Schools. Angaza Center coordinates the logistics and delivery, ensuring that the devices reach the intended schools in a timely and efficient manner. We work closely with shipping partners and leverage our network to minimize costs and streamline the process.
Device Distribution: Upon receiving the devices, the Member Schools allocate them to designated Digital Literacy labs or classrooms. Our team provides support and guidance to the schools in setting up the devices, training teachers to effectively utilize the devices, and integrating Digital Literacy into the Member School’s teaching schedule and practices.
Device Maintenance: Angaza Center recognizes the importance of device maintenance to ensure their longevity and uninterrupted usage. We establish maintenance protocols and provide ongoing technical support to Member Schools. This includes troubleshooting assistance, repairs, and replacement of faulty devices when necessary. Regular check-ins and support visits help address any issues and ensure the smooth functioning of the devices.
Impact Assessment: Throughout the donation process and beyond, Angaza Center conducts impact assessments to measure the effectiveness of the donated devices and the overall program. We collect data on student engagement, academic performance, and Digital Literacy proficiency to evaluate the impact of the devices on learning outcomes. These assessments inform our continuous improvement efforts and help us refine our strategies.
Through this streamlined computer device donation process, Angaza Center maximizes the impact of donated resources, extending the reach of Digital Literacy to secondary school students in rural African communities.
